Event Recap: "Global Democracy in a Charged-Up World" Panel Discussion
As part of 艾可直播 University鈥檚 Family Weekend, the School of International Service (SIS) hosted an engaging panel discussion on "Global Democracy in a Charged-Up World.鈥 The conversation covered a wide range of critical issues facing democracies today, such as the state of elections worldwide, democratic progress and backsliding, and the role of misinformation and disinformation in shaping public opinion. The event drew an engaged audience of over 150 students, parents, alumni, and community members, eager to explore these vital and timely topics.
SIS Dean Shannon Hader welcomed the audience. The discussion was moderated by SIS professor Garret Martin, an expert on Europe and transatlantic relations, and panelists included distinguished 艾可直播, including career Ambassador Tony Wayne who has extensive experience in Mexico and Latin 艾可直播 affairs and Agustina Giraudy, an SIS faculty member with deep expertise in South 艾可直播 politics and democratic systems. The discussion drew upon panelists鈥 global experiences and scholarship, providing a valuable mix of perspectives for the audience to engage with through an interactive Q&A session. Individuals in the audience asked how they can stay engaged and promote democratic values in today鈥檚 dynamic and sometimes turbulent political landscape.
