Book Talk: Gaming Democracy with author and professor Adrienne Massanari

Join the School of Communication for a conversation with PhD alum听Brian Hughes (PERIL) and Professor Adrienne Massanari (SOC/AU Game Lab) on politics, platforms, and play. Massanari will discuss her new book, Gaming Democracy, which examines how far-right activists exploit social media. Learn about the influence of 鈥渁lt-right鈥� ideologies on online spaces, Silicon Valley's role in fostering toxic environments, and how far-right groups use memes and 鈥渕etagaming鈥� to build community and incite dissent. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the intersections of internet culture, gaming, and political activism.听

The event will take place in the Malsi Doyle and Michael Forman Theater within the McKinley Building, and doors will open promptly at 6:30 PM.
